Jean Nicolson

Jean is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and has left behind her over ten years' worth of teaching music in Scotland, England and Spain.

Equally at home in a wide range of music genres from classical through to jazz and pop, Jean has in recent years been involved in arranging, playing/accompanying, coaching, recording and generally embracing the new music technologies of the day.

Among other music projects, she runs a small recording studio from her home in Ayrshire, Scotland which provides a friendly, non threatening environment for those looking to commit their talents to CD. Her studio suits soloists and small groups/ensembles. Contact jeannicolson@fsmail.net to enquire further.

In keeping with her 'Burns' country' roots, Jean's contributions to scotchsnap.com are a series of arrangements for voice and piano of the songs of Robert Burns. The style is contemporary with flavours of jazz, classical, folk and blues with an emphasis on real 'through' pianistic accompaniments.

Jean is also Musical Director and arranger for the five-piece band 'Borealis' who give recitals throughout the year and include Jean's Burns' arrangements (in their 'band' versions) as part of their repertoire.
