Matt Schickele
Matt is a musician from New York City whose writing pulls him to many genres, including classical, rock, and folk. He has been writing bagpipe tunes for friends, family, and special events for 20 years, and recently had his first piobaireachd-inspired piece, "Over A Bottle of Wine," premiered by piper Matthew Welch.
As a songwriter, his numerous releases include Lion Air, April/November, and Cities Filled With Lights. He also writes for and plays with the M Shanghai String Band (Red Parlor Records). He has toured as a solo artist, with his '90s rock trio Beekeeper (Southern Records), and as a guest guitarist for Babe the blue OX (RCA Records).
Matt's concert music has been performed by the Da Capo Chamber Players, the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, among others. He is a graduate of Bard College, where he studied composition with Joan Tower.
